Hi, I’m Katie Karimi
Product Designer & UX Engineer | Accessibility-Focused, Human-Centered Experiences in Toronto.
I design with intention and live with simplicity.
My Journey
I began my career in Computer Software Engineering in Tehran, where I developed a deep interest in how technology works. Over time, I realized my curiosity was not just about systems, but about people, how they think, feel, and interact with digital products.
This curiosity led me to study UX Design at TMU (Ryerson), where I learned to combine my technical foundation with human-centered design principles. Since then, I’ve spent 5+ years crafting accessible, inclusive, and intuitive digital experiences across government, finance, and technology sectors.
I specialize in accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA / AODA), ARIA, screen reader flows, and accessible UI components, alongside UX research, prototyping, and design systems. I thrive in cross-functional teams, working closely with product managers, developers, and researchers to design solutions that are both user-first and business-driven.
I’m a lifelong learner inspired by philosophy, psychology, and human behavior, using these insights to design with empathy and purpose. Lately, I’m exploring how AI can accelerate UX research and design, helping me create better experiences faster without losing the human touch.
My Design Philosophy
Empathy
Every experience begins with people, their needs, challenges, and emotions. I design with empathy to ensure their voices guide the solution.
Accessibility
I believe inclusive design isn’t optional, it’s essential. My goal is to make technology usable and respectful for everyone.
Curiosity
I love exploring new ideas, from emerging AI tools to behavioral psychology, to create work that’s both meaningful and innovative.
Currently Exploring
I’m currently exploring the intersection of AI and design, focusing on how we can create experiences that are accessible, inclusive, and human-centered, while also making technology more transparent and ethical in an AI-driven world.

Outside of Work
When I’m not designing, I love staying active with cycling, yoga, meditation, bouldering, hiking, and camping.
Photography has been my creative outlet since my teens — it helps me slow down and notice beauty in everyday simplicity. I’m inspired by meaningful conversations with friends, cozy café moments, and discovering new ideas through books or travel.
I value curiosity, connection, and balance, always eager to learn, support others, and find creative ways to make life (and design) feel a little lighter and more human.
You can peek at some of my personal photography moments on Instagram — these are personal captures, not professional projects, just slices of life through my lens.
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me! :)
